Olhao

Olhao is the nearest city to Colina Verde Golf & Country Club, about ten to fifteen minutes by car. It is essentially a fishing port and this is the mainstay for much of its people. Olhao's fresh fish market comes alive every day when the local fishing fleet lands its catch. A visit is recommended to see how time has not changed much of its tradition handed down from generation to generation.

The superb Olhao shellfish festival runs every year in August at the Jardin Do Pescador and features the best of Algarvian traditional fish recipes as well as concerts late into the evening.

There are many older churches worth visiting in the areas as well as visible footprints of occupation in ancient times by the Romans and Arabs at Cerro da Vila.
